Hillsboro’s Walmart provides $250.00 Grant to Hill County Paw Pals

Hillsboro Walmart’s “Volunteerism Always Pays” awarded a grant to Hill County Paw Pals on August 23, 2010 as part of Walmart’s local giving program. The program presents grant dollars to qualifying organizations in recognition of associate volunteer hours. Walmart associate, Lea Slocum (center) has demonstrated unparalleled dedication to the Paw Pals sponsored low cost pet sterilization and vaccination program. Lea has volunteered at every clinic. Paw Pals is proud of Lea Slocum’s service and applauds the effort of WalMart to reward her selfless spirit.

Assistant Walmart Manager Brad Lankford (left), with Slocum, is shown presenting the check to Lana Crow, Paw Pals Vice President and Ava Crawford (youngest Paw Pals volunteer, daughter of Matt and Shelby Crawford).

Lea Slocum’s volunteerism has directly resulted in over $2,000 in Walmart grants to Paw Pals since 2006. Lea is devoted towards Paw Pals’ mission to bring correction to our county’s pet overpopulation crisis. The grant money is used towards Paw Pals’ successful Low Cost Pet Sterilization and Vaccination program under the direction of Texas Coalition for Animal Protection (TCAP) from Denton, Texas (www.texasforthem.org). The Hillsboro clinic is held the first Tuesday of each month at Outlets at Hillsboro, Suite #102. To date, nearly 3,000 pet surgeries have been performed and over 6,000 rabies vaccinations administered at Hillsboro’s location. In total, TCAP has performed 83,524 sterilizations and 105,231 rabies vaccinations through North Texas. For more information about Paw Pals and this clinic, please call 254-580-0679.
