Paw Pals Annual Appreciation Banquet an Enjoyable Success!

Hill County Paw Pals Appreciation Banquet provided all a chance to sit back and relax while reviewing our past year’s achievements and to review our 2011 Pet Calendar video premiere by Amanda Bacon, Expressions Photography in Hillsboro.  The reality of starting construction of the pet adoption center on our purchased property started in August so this gave us much to be thankful for and to recognize key volunteers, supporters, and our ever generous community.  Despite tornado warnings in surrounding areas, over 70 people were in attendance.

Paw Pals appreciates the banquet planners: Barbara Aydlett, Joyce & Denny Dutton, Dana Fuchs, Betty & Mike Hendricks, Casey Martin, and Maureen Werr.  The tasty meal was prepared by Katharine & Marvin Matthys’ catering.  Katharine persevered through a power outage to continue cooking and deliver a fantastic meal for attendees.  The dinner was topped off by gourmet desserts prepared by Marueen Werr, Reenies Passion for Pastries.   For the first time, a silent auction was planned and support for it was overwhelming.  Local individuals and businesses donated goods and services worth $1,400.  Many thanks to the generosity of the following: Antique Village $100 gift certificate; Tastefully Simple $80 food basket; 3-M $75 assorted products; Barbara & David Diltz $90 teddy bear and decorative items; Cheryl Green $65 decorative items; Mike Hendricks $25 car magnets; Rick’s Quick Lube $36 oil change coupon; Holiday Inn of Dallas $129 overnight stay; Hometown Pride Car Wash $36 VIP car wash coupons; Casey & Terry Martin $320 jewelry and country dance lessons; Steve Raymond $245 toys and games; and Maureen Werr $200 gourmet desserts including a three-layered chocolate cake with cream filling.

The highlight of the evening came with our Pet Calendar premiere and we are very appreciative to Amanda Bacon, Expressions Photography, for her outstanding work and to Warren Smith for his technical support in presenting the video premiere.  The video premiere along with calendar pictures can be seen at www.expressionsbyamanda.com.  Calendar sales are in their second year and are quickly becoming a popular fund raising avenue for Paw Pals’ mission.  As was last year, limited calendars are available for $10 each so please make your purchase early for your Christmas shopping.  Calendars can be purchased on-line here or at dozens of sale locations which are listed here and at our FaceBook page.

Our enjoyable banquet generated over $1,800 but the camaraderie shared remains priceless.  For more information about becoming involved with Paw Pals’ mission to correct pet overpopulation, please email hcpawpals@yahoo.com; or call 254.580.0679.
