Paw Pals Receives $500 Gift from Volunteer Lonnie Tilson

Lonnie Tilson, of Whitney, is pictured presenting a $500 gift to Hill County Paw Pals board member, Lana Crow.  The gift is from the family’s Charity Gift Fund in memory of Mr. Tilson’s parents.  The total amount has been directed to the building of a much needed animal shelter and will become a working memorial.  The Tilson’s have lived in Whitney since 1995.  He is all too aware of the worsening pet overpopulation problems that exist in Hill County.  Mr. Tilson chose to become an active involved citizen and a working advocate to correct the problem.  He has been involved in Lake Whitney Humane Society and Hill County Paw Pals.  Last year Mr. Tilson donated pet carriers and crates to Paw Pals that were valued at $800.  These carriers have proven invaluable at the low cost spay/neuter clinics to maintain safety for the animals while they recover from anesthesia.  Mr. Tilson chose to present his generous gift at the recent Hill County Paw Pals sponsored low cost spay/neuter clinic.  This service is offered the 1st Tuesday of each month along with low cost vaccinations.  Pictured in the above photograph are: (L to R)Mr. Tilson, Mrs. Crow, Kathy Moore, Dana Fuchs, Jane Green, and Cleo Davis.  Four of Paw Pals’ adoptable dogs are also pictured.

Under the ongoing “Take the Willie Challenge” campaign, all donations are being matched by philanthropists, Cheryl and Sam Wyly—up to $40,000.  Paw Pals is honored to call Mr. Tilson one of our active volunteers.  We appreciate the ongoing efforts of all our volunteers, board members, and citizens who continue the efforts to make this a better place for all persons and pets that call Hill County home.
