Feral cats live short, hard lives on the streets. They never die of “old age.” Contagious diseases such as herpes viral conjunctivitis, feline AIDS, leukemia, and infectious peritonitis are common in cats left outdoors.

With most Texas animal shelters at full capacity, more people are taking their pets and dumping them in the country, inside city limits and at rest stops being left to starve and fend for themselves.. Sometimes, they are abandoned in houses without food or water for a couple weeks before they are found.
These animals live horrible lives scrouging for food, shelter and water while fighting off other animals, dodging vehicles and even being shot at.
The situation is even worse for pregnant animals trying to take care of their litters.
